About Finswimming
Finswimming is a competitive aquatic sport where swimmers use specialized fins to achieve incredible speeds both on the surface and underwater. Athletes can reach speeds of up to 12 km/h, making it one of the fastest swimming disciplines.
The sport combines elements of swimming technique with specialized equipment, requiring athletes to master both surface and underwater swimming skills while managing their breathing and energy efficiently.
Competition Events
Surface Swimming
Races conducted on the water surface using monofin or bifins over distances from 50m to 1500m.
Apnea Swimming
Underwater races where athletes hold their breath throughout the entire distance, typically 50m.
Immersion Swimming
Long-distance underwater swimming using breathing apparatus over distances up to 1500m.
Open Water
Long-distance surface swimming in natural bodies of water, ranging from 3km to 6km.
Equipment
Finswimming requires specialized equipment designed for maximum speed and efficiency:
• Monofin: A single large fin that binds both feet together, providing maximum propulsion
• Bifins: Two separate fins, one for each foot, allowing for more natural swimming motion
• Snorkel: For surface swimming events, allowing continuous breathing
• Swimming cap and goggles: Essential for competition and training

ATUS launches comprehensive youth training program for underwater sports, emphasizing safety, skill development, and environmental education.
